The functional program provides a series of operations between the old cemetery, the area of the parking, the connection between the lower part and the upper part and, in particular, the arrangement of the zone of the viewpoint.
The Shrine of Redipuglia hasn't a place of completion and conclusion of the experience in the path of ascent. At the top of the steps you will find yourself in an undefined space, without character, without identity. You find yourself alone, without a reference point and need to understand more about that place and its symbolic meaning.
In our project, this place has the form of aunobtrusive volume, hardly noticeable, which is outside the area of the Shrine.
The space chosen to place the visitor center is the area located to the east, the one currently occupied by a parking area.

This is replaced by a new car park surrounded by greenery, from which, thanks to a walkway, you enter the new building and the Shrine.
The layout of the visitor center reminds armored trenches at the foot of the memorial. The architecture is deliberately underground to not interfere with the strength and significance of the nearby monument. The green roof provides continuity with the surrounding nature. Only three small volumes come out on the ground: one to indicate the main entrance and the other two facing north-east to give light to the exhibition gallery.
Two ramps lead to a long gallery with different functions.
Inside, the visitor will find the projection of films, documentary and multimedia space so it isn't a conventional museum.
