The design of the New First Degree School in the Municipality of Romans d’Isonzo, which will host a group of adolescent users, is, as for any school building, a delicate process. The pupil, the main user of the school, must be an active protagonist of his educational path, able to relate to others and conceive the school as a "living space", which contributes to his overall well-being.
The design concept for the new school stems from a careful approach to the elements that make up the urban fabric. A new integrated school center capable of responding to the needs of community expansion, equipped with safe cycle-pedestrian home-school paths oriented to sustainable mobility, will be closely connected to other elements of the urban fabric, first of all the Piazza Garibaldi cultural center, generating a system of urban connection networks.
The inspiring volumetric model is deliberately simple, sustainable, attentive to socialization, aggregating, permeable and transparent, with a ground floor connected to the city.

A place of exchange that re-appropriates city spaces and generates relationships between individuals and place, a school building understood as a civic center of services.
The court is open in all cardinal directions: it creates a permeability to the north, generating the entrance hall, expands to the west towards the Primary School and to the east towards the area of possible future Development, finally meets an artificial hill on the south which rests the East body of the classrooms.
The element of the hill produces multiple advantages: it allows an exit in height from the distribution space of the body of the classrooms, enriches the space of the court that is configured as a protected garden but at the same time not properly closed, it is configured as an aggregation space for socialization and allows representations and events taking the shape of a real outdoor theater stage.
